Characterised by fuscous patch on dorsum near base of wing
   

Life Cycle

The larval foodplants are a range of woodland grasses, including wood millet (Milium effusum) and wood-rushes (Luzula spp.).Larva feeds on flowers, stems and leaves of various grasses, including Wood Meadow-grass and False-brome.
 

Habitat

Various woodland habitats, it flies in July and August, and is locally distributed in the southern half of Britain, but absent further north.
