Name derived from the moth's fanciful resemblance to burnt paper

   

Life Cycle

Inhabiting woodland, the larvae feed on a range of deciduous trees, including oak (Quercus), birch (Betula) and sallow (Salix).Larva feeds on Oak, and a number of other deciduous trees, including Downy and Silver Birch, Sallow and Beech, over-wintering as a pupa.The main flight period is May and June.
