Wingspan 25-33 mm.

Phenology adults fly from dusk onwards during the period from June to August. They can also be disturbed from lowvegetation such as heather during the day.

Description this moth appears to show only three dots when resting - one is hidden by the overlapped wings. Occ specimens have a more buff yellow ground colour on the forewings.

Life Cycle It occurs on waste ground and other places where the foodplant, thistle (Carduus), occurs
