Widespread and abundant creeping perennial of grassy places, heaths and moors. Unstalked leaves are trifoliate but appear 5-lobed because of two large leaflet-like stipules at base. 4-petalled flowers appear May to September; 7 to 11mm across. Height up to 30cm
