Hairless annual of cultivated ground. Widespread and generally common although scarce in Scotland. Opposite pairs of unstalked, oval leaves borne on trailing stems. Flowers on slender stalks are borne May­September. Usually red but sometimes blue. Weed of cultivation , dunes . Flowering May to October
