Slender, hairless perennial of deciduous woodland, mostly on neutral or basic soils. Widespread and common, but becoming scarce in the N. Basal leaves have 5­7 lobes. Small umbels of pinkish flowers borne on reddish stems, May­August. Height up to 50cm
