Family Lamiaceae (Mint) Labiatae

Description

A dicoyledinous perrenial. Infloresecnce of whorled spikes usually with 6 flowers ( 1.5 - 1.8 cm ), long purplish red with violet pink. The upper lip is aprox half as long as the lower lip, which is lightly spotted. Leaves 3 - 5 x longer than wide lanceolate, crenately toothed. 5- 12 cm long

Stem leaves of Hedge Woundwort are long stalked whereas those of Marsh Woundwort are stalkless. Height 80 cm Flowers July - September

Habitat

Rivers , Canals , marshy areas, fensdamp grassland.
