Variable perennial found in woods and grassland, and among rocks. Widespread and locally common. Stalked basal leaves are spoon-shaped; stem leaves are narrower and unstalked. Flower heads, 5 to 10 mm across, in branched spikes, June to September. Height up to 75cm
