Locally common perennial of unimproved grassland, often on calcareous soils. Widespread but scarce in Scotland. Wrinkled, hairy leaves form a basal rosette. Heads of 10 to 30 orange-yellow, bell-shaped flowers borne on stalks, April to May. Height up to 25cm
