Stickily-hairy annual of bare, grassy places often strong smelling . Widespread and locally common, especially in SE England and around coasts. Leaves two pinnate finely divided and feathery. Leaf divided like Cranesbills but pinnately rather than palmately, i.e. leaflets placed in opposite pairs along midrib. Flowers and fruits similar to Cranesbills. Purplish Pink flowers appear May­August; 5 petals often unequal petals easily lost sometimesswith a blackish spots at base of upper 2 petals 4 - 11 mm,. Fruit is long and beak-like. Height up to 25cm
