Deciduous shrub of heaths, moors and open woodland on acid soils. Widespread but commonest in Scotland. Bright green, oval leaves borne on green, 3-angled stems. Greenish pink flowers appear April to June; ripen to edible, purplish fruits in autumn. Height up to 75cm
