Flower diameter c 8-15 mm. Plant c 60-90 cm high.

Petals notched to halfway into two parallel lobes. Stigma not 4-lobed but round and compact. Leaves widest near their rounded or squared-off base, long-tapering to the tip, with a stalk 1.5-4 mm.

Other features: Flowers sometimes darker at the edges. Flowers generally more numerous than in other Willowherbs. Produces overwintering rosettes at base. Upper part of stem has 4 raised lines, dense short spreading glandular hairs and curled non-glandular hairs.Rare in damp waste ground, will probably increase.
