Description

A plentiful moth in woodland districts in many parts of England and Wales but it is scarce and local in Ireland. The moths appear late february and early May and rest by day low down on tree trunks. The male which comes freely to light is smaller than the female and has feather like antenna. The larvae feed fom May to July chiefly on the foilage of Birch Oak and Elm The dark brown pupae over winter below ground
