Phenology May to October.

Identification Length 8 to 11 mm. This species has a slightly two tone brown wing, the darker marking can be quite pronounced on some individuals.
Larva produces a case made of sand grains.

Habitat Bare bottomed pools, ditches and reservoirs. It can also be attracted to light.
