AKA Holcostethus strictus vernalis

Home > Heteroptera >>Pentatomoidea

Length 9.5-11 mm

Phenology Adult: all year

Description Large greenish-brown shieldbug covered in dark punctures. Antennae are notably banded, with the final two segments largely black. The scutellum has a pale tip , a banded connexivum and concave margins to the pronotum behind the eyes.

Distribution Traditionally noted as an occasional migrant but now seems established in Kent and Sussex at several sites. All records after the 1950s are from Southern Counties and indicate attempts at colonisation. Recent recurrent records from the Boscombe area of Bournemouth suggest that it is now established .
