Length 11-12 mm

Description A large and purple-brown and greenish shieldbug covered with characteristic long hairs also evident on the Nymph AKA " Hairy Shieldbug ". Immediately recognisable by banding of both antennae and connexivum which are banded black and white. During the winter, the ground colour becomes uniformly dull brown as with most SB preparing for Overwintering

Life Cycle Overwinters as an adult, emerging spring. Larvae, also hairy, may be found on numerous plants, particularly those in the Roasaceae. The new generation is complete from August onwards.

Habitat Common and widepsread in many habitats throughout Britain, particularly hedgerows and woodland edges with Roasaceae ,
