Description

A squat orange born fly with a dark brown line down the abdomen. It is bristly and has yellow bases to the wings. Tachinid flies are mostly bristly and are specialist parasites attacking larva of other insects such as moths killing them before they emerge.In the adult state it is found in Marshy Flowery Places and Damp Woodlands where it basks on flower heads and feeds on plants such as Angelica and Ragwort
