Description Abristly black Tachnid , it has distinctive orange side patches on its abdomen, bisected by a dorsal black line.

Phenology June to October.

Diet Larvae of this Tachnid are parasitic, developing inside the larvae of moths, feeding on the caterpillar

Habitat Adults feed on flowers frequentinmg various flowers notably umbellifers and flowers of the Compositae - Daisy family. A common Tachinid Fly of grassy areas.
