Identification

A distinctive shaped fly with a 'waisted' appearance. head and thorax area are quite broad, and the end of the abdomen has a bulbous ending.t.

Life Cycle

The adults are nectar feeders, visiting flowers. .Their larvae are endoparasites of bumble bees of the genus Bombus.
