Identification

A common species taller grasslands in the southern half of Britain. Leptogaster species are very slender, delicate and weak-flying robberflies, and this is reflected in thier prey which is small - Eg aphids, small flies and even small spiders.They do not hunt from a perch but catch prey by darting quickly dart irectly from hovering flight.

Larvae develop in sandy soil.
