Description

Large compact , with sharp wings and short tail. Upperparts slate grey with underparts white with barring . Top of head and moustache Black. Sexes are similar but female is noticably larger and darker.

Flight in rapid shallow wing beats interupted by short gliding periods occasionally soars on upper current . The silhouette of this birds is anchor like in appearance.


 

Where does the Perigrine Falcon live?

In open countryside , scattered woodland , on plains in mounytains and on semi tundra

What does the Perigrine Falcon it eat?

The Pergrine eats largely birds, Larks , Pigeons ,Ducks, Gulls, Thrushes which it catches in rapid pursuit flights

What does it sound like?

Most commonly heard at time of breeeding when both sexes sound a " geihh "

When Does the Crow breed?

March - June , 3 - 5 eggs, incubation 18 -32 days , young fledge at 35 -42 days , Nests on rock ledge or in trees.
