Size: 7-9mm.

Description An elongated species with a long pronotum. Either uniformly dark brown/black or dark brown/black pronotum with chestnut brown elytra. A covering of shiny hairs is more visible under examination with a lens. The legs are a lighter brown, almost yellow on the tibia. The antennae are approximately the length of the head and pronotum.

Life Cycle The imago can appear in April-May and are present until July. They can be found resting on the stems of various grasses, Juncus spp. and willows (Salix spp.)

Habitat Wide range of habitats, predominantly wet areas including marshes, ditches, wet woodland, near ponds and near small streams.
