14-spot Ladybird Propylea 14-punctata

Back To Back to Home Back To beetles Page

A 3.5-5mm long black and yellow angular-spotted ladybird with aphid-hunting larvae. The black spots are often fused to form a characteristic anchor shape. When very heavily marked with black it could be confused with the chequered form of the 10-spot Ladybird - see that species for distinguishing characters. Very common nationally in most habitats, including scrub, grassland and gardens.
